Socrative – Student Response System

I just discovered a great web application that is free to use and oh, so right for classrooms.  Socrative is a web-based application that can be used as a student response system to deliver formative or summative assessments.  Socrative is free to use and it has an extremely, user-friendly interface.  The students can access the assessments created by the instructor using a computer or mobile device.  All they have to do is type in the instructor’s Room Number (Socrative code) and they will get whatever assessment the instructor has initiated.  Once all students have completed the assessment, the  instructor simply stops the quiz and downloads the results.  Sure, the only caveat is that the students all need a device, but let’s keep in mind that we are continually moving toward 1-to-1 computing ratios as devices decrease in cost and BOYD policies flourish.
